Hi,
Am looking to update my bathroom by basically replacing like for like. The bathroom is basically 17m2 of wall and 2.5m2 for the floor.
£1100 labour fit travertine floor/wall tiles
£100 polish external edges of tiles
£210 flexible adhesive
£150 fit underfloor heating
£175 supply underfloor heating
Is the cost of fitting the tiles a little toppy or do you pay extra because they are travertine.
I live in central london so I am aware I will propably be paying top $$.
The rest of the quote seems quite reasonable (not entered it all in here)
Would be greatful for any feedback & am willing to proivde futher details if needed.
Thanks
Dan

I'm based in the Northwest so it looks a bit high but not massively, if he's polishing the exposed edges it's a good sign he knows what he's doing. Is there any prep. work on the walls to cope with the weight of travertine as plaster skim isn't up to it.0

Hi,
Yes that is included but elsewhere within the quote for £800 ... which also includes the cost of
removing the current suit/tiles. Fit new suite in same position. Remove & replace radiator. Chasing a cable into the ceiling. Connecting 4 spots. Moving current light switch. Fit extractor fan.0 -
When you add the cost of the addy thats over £60 a metre. Thats expensive (or I don't charge enough
)
Fancy posting up the whole quote?

Hi
I live in the Midlands and I am in the middle of having my shower room completely re-done. The dimensions are very similar to yours (18 sqm of tiles for the walls), 3.62 sqm of tiles for the floor). My builder is ripping off all the old tiles, making the walls good for the new tiles, tiling the walls and floor, skimming the ceiling, replacing the radiator, fitting new loo, quandrant shower and sink, painting the ceiling, boxing in some pipes, fitting 3 x spotlight, fitting 1 x extractor fan with light...that's it I think...all for 900.00 including VAT!!!!
The builder/plumber is someone I have always used for everything in my house, so much so that we are now firm friends, but I don't think he gives me mate's rates, it is his livliehood after all.2013 NSD challenge 3/100 -

This is a ridiculously cheap price - surley its not travertine???0 -
No, the wall tiles are ceramic and the floor tiles are slate. Obviously, I have had to pay for all the materials and the bathroom suite, his price is purely for labour. And for doing the whole thing! And, he does a really good job too, I think he is a godsend and recommend him to all my friends, so he is a very busy man.2013 NSD challenge 3/100

Hi, I work for Creative Tiles and Laminates, a tile shop in the West Midlands who also have a team of tilers. I've had a look at the prices you've given and reckon the prices for the flexi adhesive, grout, underfloor heating and fitting of the underfloor heating are about right. However, I agree the price you have been quoted for the tiling does seem excessive - we would charge somewhere in the region of £700 dependent on viewing the job beforehand of course. Although I'm sure being in Central London does impact on the price you have been quoted, especially as it seems that like Anxious_Mum... it seems cheaper in the Midlands.0
