A bit of praise for Maplins!
I went to one of their branches yesterday, to get a hard drive enclosure, to copy over some old files that I had. Spoke to a Sales Assistant, and at the time I wasn't sure if all of the drives I had were IDE or not.
Got home, tried it out - wouldn't work on any of the three drives I had. Then realised that it was printed on the packaging that it would not work on Western Digital drives - this wasn't mentioned or pointed out by the Sales Assistant.
So, packaged it all back up, and went back to the shop. Queued at the till, and whilst waiting, a member of staff (who turned out to be the branch manager) came over, and asked if he could help. Explained the problem (was expecting a fight, as I had used it etc).
He got one of his "techy" guys over, to help pick an alternative. It turned out that there was only one they had that was compatible with Western Digital drives. So they exchanged it - and it was £10 cheaper!
Well done Maplins - impressive service!
