No Heating in Flat, What's cheapest to Fit and Where from?

I have a BTL flat which has just come empty. At the moment it doesn't have any heating.

I was going to have GCH fitted but the flat is third story and has no gas. I've just had/having a nightmare with British Gas/transco getting a meter fitted to another flat and I want to avoid the hassle and the cost.

The flat is small so what kind of heating can I put in which is efficent and won't cost an arm and a leg to get fitted or too much to run.

If anyone knows of this miracle heating all ideas welcome!

Please don't go down the solar power route it's in a conservation area.

Many thanks
Bobsa

Tomstickland, any idea where I can get a price? The flat has one bed, & lounge which would need heating so only need a couple, kitchen tiny and a bathroom.

    Thanks for the idea

If you do go for storage heaters then for goodness sake get the ones which have a built in convection heater too. I'm about to move out of my rented flat partly because I cant bear another winter with my rubbishy night storage heaters...it's sooooo cooooolllllllldddddd!!!!!!

They're expensive to run, but it is nice to have the option if you don't charge the storage heaters up enough.

I charge my storage heaters overnight and then leave them closed until I get home from work but they still lose all their heat really quickly. I always have to use convector heaters as well.

You should turn the storage charge level up then. Econ 7 is usually about 1/4 of the price of daytime electricity. Either that or you have undersized heaters for the flat, poor insulation, or want a tropical temperature.
