Does anyone have any experience of how an IVA affects renting a property?

I entered into an IVA about 18 months ago and am now looking to rent a property with my partner who has an excellent credit rating.
Does anyone have any experience or advicee on this? I have read so many different things from my boyfriend registering with the lettings agency as the tenant and myself as an occupant... to letting agencies only doing a basic credit check so an IVA would show...?
I really want to go about this in the right way.
The rent covered by the budget outlined in my annual review would cover the bills in a rented property.

From my experience they can be deemed just as bad as BR and most Landlords ask for a bigger deposit, rent in advance, or a guarantor, but some are sympathetic. Best thing you can do is tell the agent who can then ask the landlord, we did just that and he was OK as long as we gave a bigger deposit. Dont leave it to fait as they can get funny about not being upfront and honest. There are lots of people out there failing credit checks at the moment due to CCJ’s IVA and BR.
Private kand lords tend not to ask for credit checks but for references etc. Try you local paper, gumtree etc before the agents. = Good luck.0 -
Again, some agencies don't do a full credit check, but merely an id and address check. But as Bright says above, it's best to be upfront, as they will in all probability, find out anyway.0
