Hi everyone

Wondering if anyone can help me I am looking for Swarovski table crystals for the wedding or anything that gives the same affect as THe real things I ideally dont want Acrylic crystals as i find some of them you can tell are acrylic and i didn't want that as i am going for a sort of crytal theme as my dress is full of them.. Can anyone either point me in the direction of where to get these cheap as im looking on ebay at nearly £6 for 100 4.3mm or a cheaper alternative that doesn't look cheap

Thanks in advance

i havent got any good ideas but if the ebay ones are glass thats not too bad. I do think it makes a huge difference. i bought some crystals for my invites from crystals and beads but for table crystals they are between 8-10 pounds for100 of 5.5. so not any better!
  • this may not be the most popular opinion but... its something i have to keep asking myself about the finer (more expensive )details
    will anyone know but you?

if you will indulge me for a moment....i had a few days when all i could do was stress about chair covers, should we? shouldnt we? etc
then i tried to remember if the 3 weddings ive been too had covers with matching sashes? and you know what... i have NO idea wether they did,
I didnt notice and honestly cant remember... i remember the bride looked amazing, the speech the best man made that had us all in tears, i even remember the slice of green mystery starter that nobody could work out what it was but was too polite to ask, but the chairs? no...
and thats what swung it... chair covers cost about £2.50 each, lets say £250 to kit out the whole room
so, £250 or have a word with myself about wether anyone but me cared as much as i did and it became FREE! (my favourite!)
can you imagine anyone saying "it was a lovely wedding but its a shame about the chair covers, totally ruined it for me..." :) no? can you imagine saying "gorgeous wedding... shame those table decorations werent real diamonds... it spoiled my whole day" :)

so... after this long and totally irrelevant ramble what im trying to say is... will anyone but you know they are acrylics off ebay that cost a tenner for thousands, or that they are real crystals that cost you an absolute bomb?
im sure theres a seller with super sparkly ones that will look amazing in real life getting hit with the lights

    good luck with the hunt

We had acrylic ones and I doubt anyone even noticed them, not even my husband! Hand on heart, on the day, I didn't even notice them myself!

The only person who did was my daughter and that's because she was let loose with a camera so she was taking piccies of the tables.

My friend had acrylic ones and H2B liked them so much he asked if we could get them. We got ours from ebay £3.50 for 2000 I think. 2000 of dark red and 2000 of black. They look really cool! Wouldn't have dreamt of spending more than £7 on them considering at the end of the night they'll be shaken off the table cloth into the nearest bin...

We are the same, we have bought acrylic ones, less than £5 for 2000.

I was the same as you Curious George, I was having a bit of a stress about our centrepieces and worrying whether people would think we were cheap having lanterns, gems and table confetti instead of some expensive floral arrangements. Then I too started to think about previous wedding that I had been to and couldn't for the life or me remember what any of them had as centrepieces. So we went with the cheaper option, which in my opinion look really nice and I'm really happy we only spent about £60 for 7 tables! :o

If you have the spare cash to splash out and have the "proper" crystals and you really want them then go for it (and I think eBay will probably be the cheapest) but if you are buying them just because you think you should or that you are worried what guests will think them it's worth looking at the acrylic ones.
The ones we got were the tiny ones and with them at least I don't think you can really tell the difference.

  • thanks ladies

I completly understand where your coming from and will order a saple of acrylics as see what they look like... I think im just being petty lol and dont want anything to look cheep if that makes sense.... Im not overly impressed no offence with acrylic ones as my cousin had some light pink ones at the engagement party and they didn't look that nice!!! Maybe clear ones will look different to pink ones

Just me being stupid i think...

    thanks

Was just about to suggest pearls lol! Or glass/crystal beads or chandeliar drops rather than solid crystals. They would have holes in them, but I am sure you wouldn't notice. cel x
