long lasting footwear hard to find

Not sure if I've put this post in the right section.
In recent years, ever since the recession which we're still in, I've found it difficult to find decent long lasting footwear at a decent price.
I use to buy cheap trainers from ShoeZone or Jonathan James, and they'd last me nearly a year for each pair. Then the recession came and the quality dropped so much that they no longer last beyond 2 months.
So I set my budget higher and looked into more expensive footwear. Upon reading review online, I settled on Lacoste. So I went out and bought a pair for something like £60. They didn't last half a year.
Then I was told to try SportsDirect. So I went to my local store and bought a pair of boots for about £40 which were on offer from the original price of £60 (Karrimor brand), and a pair of trainers for £35 (half price and can't remember the brand.)
Apart from needing new laces, the boots are going strong, but I had to dump the trainers because they died in a matter of a few months.
I don't wear shoes unless on rare occasions, like a wedding which I'll be going too in a couple of months. I'll just buy a cheap pair for the day and then dump them. Shoes and my feet have never got along with each other to the point of an hour wearing a pair and my feet are destroyed.
Back to trainers. I need new trainers, but I cannot find any long lasting ones at a decent price.
Can anyone help?

I wear Lonsdale trainers and buy them from Sports Direct. I wear them all of the time at work and 90% of my days off and the last pair lasted me about 15 months. I just bought some new ones this week as the old ones started to form holes at the heels - due to how I walk. At £16, I cannot grumble.
Lonsdale suit me as I have flat feet, have several styles in black and have styles that don't have shoelaces. Shoelaces always come undone and I find them annoying.0 -
I used to wear Lonsdale until I became too ashamed to be seen in them.0

Ive still got my 5 year old nikes that are still in pristine condition and were bought from sports direct as well my Reebok boots that were also bought from there although that is starting to show wear.0

I have Clarks trainers, reduced to £25 in their factory shop, worn nearly every day to work, most of the day in work and out walking on days off, elasticated laces, had them over four years and there is no wear showing on them - practically like new. Took a few days to "wear them in" but after that they became extremely comfortable and I now dread wearing anything else.0

Ditto Middy - I too wear Lonsdales from Sports Direct. A lot of the other brands in Sports Direct that fit me (wider feet) are man made, but the Lonsdales are leather and I can get about 2 years out of a pair (worn probably about 40% of the time), although the soles aren't great in slippy weather! The last pair I had cost £12.00 - bargain!
BTW - I don't give a stuff what the label on any clothes/footwear says, if it suits me, and it's comfy, and I like it, so what! I don't wear anything to advertise a brand - if I advertise, the manufacturer should pay me.0 -

Tha's the name I couldn't remember. Lonsdale.
I have odd shaped feet and tend to use the ball of my heel most so the back end is the first part that goes in any footwear that I get.0 -

Agreed. I'm no fashion person. I buy as cheap as possible, and simple clothing to boot. I won't buy big brand stuff unless someone give me one as a present. I will not be made to wear something to advertise a brand, unless I work for said company and they give me the clothing for free.0 -
I agree with you guys.0
