My Internet Explorer used to have a row along the bottom which told you how close you were to opening a page.
It has disappeared by magic - or by some little monster ( DD or DS ) fiddling with the preferences.
I don't know whqat it is really called so I am stuck as how to get it back.
I'm on Vista if that makes a difference.
Thanks

Right click on the top light blue blue bar and make sure status bar is ticked.0

Have a look in the top right hand corner; is the window running maximised or has it been stretched out to a funny shape and the bottom of the window is off the bottom of the screen?
And I might as well say it before anyone else - switch to Firefox!I'm dreaming of a white Christmas.
But, if the white runs out, I'll drink the red.0 -
Many thanks, hemophobic did the trick.
WhiteChristmas - why switch to Firefox please? I have it already on my machine but have never got to grips with it.
Finally - I can't believe I spelt ( spelled) "bottom" wrong!
Thanks again0 -
No problem. I don't understand why people love FF so much either I prefer IE.0

The latest version of IE is, functionally, catching up with Firefox, but it's still being targetted by hackers such that it makes your system slightly more susceptible to virus infection than if you use Firefox (or Chrome, or Opera).
I've been using Firefox and Opera for many years because, historically, they were simply better browsers - faster with better functionality. Tabbed browsing and an advert-free internet experience aren't a new experience to some of us!
But, if you're happy where you are...I'm dreaming of a white Christmas.
