Lindam LD103 Baby Gate

Purchased 2 lindam LD103 baby gates just over 3 years ago, noticed in last few days that the one on our living/front room inter-connecting door 2 of the bars had broken at the weld.... Not to impressed by this as daughter could have hurt herself if we hadnt noticed the problem.

Thought i would email lindam to advise the problem that had occured and basically told that as they were over 12 months old, they were out of manufacturers guarantee!

Emailed them back advising that it looked like poor welding on the gate bars.. they emailed back saying that 3 years was an acceptable time for a baby gate to last!! emailed back to advise that we had the identical gate on our daughters room and that it was used every day since she was born.... whereas the one on our living/front room, is used probably 2 times a week max....

Lindam not interested at all... asked them if they had been advised of similar problems - not received a reply from them about that... So decided that i would contact Tesco whom we purchased them from online - got a reply within a couple of days from a nice customer service manager, apologising for the problems we encountered and advising that they would be sending us a £20 voucher to put towards a replacement.

To be honest considering lindam say they "No 1 in baby safety" they have certainly lost a customer in us, will never purchase a lindam product in the future.

Tesco's have been 110% in the matter, didnt expect anything from tescos or lindam, was just emailing to advise them of the problems we encountered - didnt want other small children to be possibly injured by the weld snapping on the baby gates.

See thats quite interesting that they're suggesting a life limit for the welds on a baby gate - lets be honest, the bars shouldn't really get that much wear and tear should they, so you wouldn't expect them to break.

My wife and I will be needing a baby gate fairly soon which I'd imagine will have to last a few years, I shall be interested to see how long that lasts.....

Thats my thoughts on the matter, my daughter doesnt stand there trying to climb over the gate or rattling on the bars... the one upstairs is fine (for now!). Wouldnt recommend a lindam gate, there after sales service is totally poor to be honest.

Would recommend looking at Tescos, got great customer service from them over the problems (they didnt even ask for receipt etc).
