Taking it to the Ombudsman?

Options
Hello everyone, great to hear all the success stories, well done!

I have a bit of an issue, I started my claim in October 2010 with barclaycard and up to now they still haven't processed my claim! I have spoken to them to find out what the delay is and they said that barclaycard had been to court for some legal thing regarding PPI (not really sure what it was). So there is a backlog.

I would like to take this to the ombudsman but I'm not sure how to any ideas?

Thank you :)

    Hi there

The delay is possibly down to the Judicial Review issues, there are posts on this site about this, and others are in the same situation as yourself, so I would have a read of more details about this to give you more of an idea.

They should as well give you the opportunity to take your complaint to the FOS, by confirming this in a letter.

    More on the JR here.

  • Thank you Di, most helpful as always :) I have looked through the information. It seems to refer this to the ombudsman I need a letter from the company, will they send this to me automatically or can I call them up and request it? Thank you :)
  • No you don't need a letter from the company.

Provided you make clear that it is more than eight weeks since you complained and you have still not had a response you can take it to FOS immediately unless the firm you are complaining to has a "waiver" for that type of complaint from the Financial Ombudsman Service - which as not been granted on these cases (at least thus far)

    Hiya

They should send you a letter to confirm you to go this direction automatically I believe, maybe you should give them a ring and ask them if they intend on doing this or are they going to deal with your complaint.;)
