Homewoods (and Embassy Suites - Superb breakfasts) are always my number 1 purely because they are 2 room suites. With the little ones that's a must for the next year or so.

Me and the misses have about 600,000 HH points. We go on the fact that 25,000 is about $100. So, if it's less than $100 we pay cash and get the points added and also the nights to bump up the status.
The Homewood near Virginia Beach is 22,500 a night. Bargain!
I've been pushed down to Silver now. Not happy. I was Diamond for a couple of years, then Gold... I need more nights!!

We stayed at the Embassy Suites Hampton Roads last year and very nice it was as well. I can still remember the Mini Cats going up and down in the open fronted elevators whilst Mrs Cat & I couldn't see them .

I can thouroughly recommend the Battleship Wisconsin & Nauticus as a place to visit, with a cruise around the Naval base afterwards.

& for a complete change of pace, the Norfolk Botanical Gardens were lovely
