I think my gerbil is lonely

Unfortunatly over the past couple of months, I have lost 3 gerbils & now only 1 remains. I orginally adopted them from Pets at Home about 18 months ago. I'm suspecting they were all brothers & had been together since birth. They had never been handled much by their previous owner & when I brough them home, they didn't want much human interaction & that's pretty much the way it stayed.
However, old age has taken it's toll & and 3 have passed away. The remaining gerbil seems to have become very nervous and jumpy. He also appears to be pining for his brothers. Anyone got any ideas what I can do to make his life better and not so lonely?
