Why are you having to plug so many items into an extension lead? Are you overloading it? How many device are connected?
Do you not have sufficient fixed sockets to plug into? There should be an adequate number in a 10 year old house.
Is this only happening when using one particular ring main (the upstairs one)?
What happens when using the downstairs ring main with the same extension lead?
You may well have a fault requiring an electrician, but you can narrow down the source of the problem first. No free lunch, and no free laptop

No I'm only plugging 1 item into it- its just because the lead wont reach from the plug to use the laptop where I want it.
Yes, I only get the sparks when using the same extension and laptop from the upstairs sockets?0 -
So same extension lead downstairs is OK? But it arcs on any upstairs socket? But not when used without the extension lead?
I suggest you stop plugging the laptop in before you do it terminal damage. Test it with something cheaper! No free lunch, and no free laptop

Good.I have just rung an electrician,
Don't. It needs checking by someone who is competant to do so......hopefully I can cancel him.
Did you actually read post #2 properly? I can't believe you are still plugging expensive bits of kit into this.

Yes, same extension downstairs is ok, yes it arcs on any upstairs socket 50% of the time, same as previous extension socket this is a brand new one.
nothing has ever arked when plugged directly into a fixed socket.0 -
Get a sparky in, and soon.No free lunch, and no free laptop

If I knew that I'd tell you.
Why can't you just take the advice you've already been given by others here and call an electrican in before you do harm to yourself or endanger your property? No free lunch, and no free laptop

Why what does it sound like?

It sounds like you have a faulty electrical installation to some extent or another. Thats at least three of us told you that now and we have been doing so for over 24 hours. I really do hope you didn't cancel the electrician earlier today or perhaps you are planning on saving whatever he would have charged you to go towards funeral expenses.
