Advice on UK Savings Plan
tuanton
Posts: 2 Newbie
My wife and I are retired and living in Malaysia. We are UK citizens and pay UK tax but have no property or other income apart from pensions derived in the UK. We bank in the UK and transfer to our local overseas bank as and when necessary.
We are interested in finding a good savings/investment plan in the UK and would welcome further advice please.

It depends on so many things, amount of investment, Attitude to risk, Term of investment & accessibility to name a few. You can use your ISA's for £10,200 each, that would probably be your first port of call.

Thanks, but cannot do ISA unfortunately as no longer resident in UK (although we pay UK Tax) This always a bit of a unfair situation I think.0 -
OP,
I can't understand why you are liable to UK tax if you are non-resident?
Reagrding a savings/investment plan, you have not supplied any information for someone to make any realistic suggestions. You need to answer some simple questions;
1. Savings or investments?
2. How much?
3. How long?
4. Attitude to risk?
5. Your tax status - seems unclear to me?In case you hadn't already worked it out - the entire global financial system is predicated on the assumption that you're an idiot:cool:0
