almost certainly an unfair term - the two "transactions" are totally unrelated legally - surely ?? or has the world gone utterly mad ????0

sorry - the 'possibly' was meant to be ironic
we had the same terms in our contracts the first year in halls, but after that we had to find our own flats. most of us went to the uni accredited housing letting and management service, in a uni owned building, run by uni staff, offering university checked housing. and yes, that was in their t and c's, and in our tenancy agreements.
it's been a while now - [lets just say that i didn't have to pay tuition fees
], so don't know if i have a copy of my agreement any more. 0 -
they've awarded the contracts, details here....

and here - the insurance backed scheme will be a joint venture between the National Landlords Associaton and Hamilton Fraser Insurance Brokers0 -
I understand that any NEW deposits after 6th April have to be put in one of these approved schemes.
What happens to existing deposits from existing tenancies?0 -
presumably the deposit will be dealt with as per the terms of the AST - you can bet that some unscruplous landlords will be signing 12 months AST by the bucketful in March !0

Why sign 12 months? AST's continue on until you or the tenant give notice?0
