Hi all, after much googling and still not finding an answer i came across this forum so im hoping someone can help me.
My partner has her own house, ( i currently have a flat ) and she recieves working tax credit and child tax credit. We are going on holiday to Las Vegas in october and im hoping to surprise her with a wedding, we have discussed it but nothing was sorted. She is a little worried about when to stop her credits and when her last payment would be.
Does she just not fill in the renewal forms when they come, and if that is the case when would her last payment be ?
Can she just phone them before we go and advise them she is getting married and wants to cancel, if this is the case what info would they require ?
Im thinking it would be best to just not renew but any ifo would be appreciated. Thanks in advance for any help.

You may well still be entitled to tax credits as a joint claim . Your partner would need to call tax credits helpline and advise them of the situation . They will be able to assess wether you will be able to apply for tax credits again on your household income. The loopy one has gone :j0 -

I earn over the threshold to be entitled to claim any mate. Part of the reason i haven't moved in is my partner has debts she is paying and the extra money helped her. As these are almost done we feel moving in together is almost possible :j
Thats why my question is about cancelling, your response is appreciated though and any more advice is welcomed.

In that case then , if you are sure that you are not entitled to any form of tax credits once you are married , it would be up to your partner to inform tax credits the date upon which you move in together or get married - which ever comes first .
Your partners claim to tax credits will end the day you marry or live together as if you were married.
If the wedding is a surprise for your partner then on your return would be the ideal time to inform tco.The loopy one has gone :j0 -
once you start living together, then all your OH has to do is contact hmrc and let them know of a change in circumstances. you will still be sent renewal forms for the first couple of years, and you just have to confirm your household income as required
after that your claim will just sit idle, until you fall of the register when the kids leave school
