Nationwide have been haunting me lately too, they keep sending me text message updates at 2am saying "mr and mrs whatstheirnames solcitors have requested the funds" I'm going to sue nationwide for sleep deprivation. You know you are a saddo when its only nationwide sending me texts in the middle of night :(

Do Nationwide operate a foreign customer service as well as British ? It might explain the late night txt's if they do.
  • just british - for now! the mortgage markets hugely competitive and lenders are being forced to work within tighter margins due to regulatory speculation and investigations into fee;s etc. Sometimes I feel like the industry is under so much pressure it is being brow beaten into being a consumer charity. Consumers expect so much for so little money sometimes. I'm all for moneysaving but not at the expense of lenders limiting their product ranges and farming out their admin to foreign countries. How long I wonder before we find Halifax operating from india - they have already reduced their workforce. Let the PC brigade stamp on my head I don't care. This industry exists because we all make profit so lets not forget that.

    Rant over.

Always found them really helpful. Just re-mortgaged with them and wasn't as impressed, I had to show the advisor how to do some of the calculations  which was a tad bizarre but have been impressed with them over the last 15 years mind you I had TSB before that so maybe that's why!

Some time ago, I tried switching my current account to them, but there were loads of problems from their end, so I decided not to give them my custom.

When it came to a mortgage, they were the cheapest (over a five year period rather than having a 1% for 6 months then 8% for ever type of deal), so, rather than being stubborn, I went with them as it saved me money.

I found them very helpful, and they even contacted me when my initial reduced-rate was expiring to let me know how I could continue saving money rather than going onto their standard variable rate. Granted, this tied me into them for a few more years, but it was money saved and hassle-free.

I can't switch it off for personal reasons, lets just say I have to be on standby to get somewhere quickly if I need to - but I sure would love to switch it off sometimes, especially with 3g send me those stupid media messages which when you open them make a right noise

I'm 30 going on 80 I think. I walked out of a bar last weekend because it was too noisy!

I agree MM, it's a sorry state of affairs if companies need to operate this way. It's one of the many reasons I fell out with Abbey. Yes margains are tight and will no doubt get tighter but for heavens sake keep the customer service in this country.
