gold bathroom taps how to clean and restore the gold finish?

I have gold taps that are going a bit silvery, is there anyway to restore the finish? I have tried using vinegar, salt and flour in a paste but this did nothing.

I guess the gold finish is wearing off so rubbing with any abrasive such as salt is only going to make it worse.

You could paint them but it probably would look awful

I agree - gold taps aren't gold, they are chrome with a gold effect plating, which will over time perish. There isn't a way of restoring them to their former glory without re-coating them.

Havingthem replated is the onylo option. Once you have paid for that, you could of got a new set for a lot less.

get some new taps. proper ones.
