Don't know much about betfair trading, but I assume it's online gambling, so a faster laptop will make absolutely no difference. It's the speed of your internet connection that has the biggest impact on the performance. Just clean up your Presario, possibly try a different browser, upgrade your internet connection if necessary and put the money you've saved on a horse!

Instead of spending £500 on a new laptop, why don't you just clear out the wad of fluff from the gap between the fan and the heatsink on the Presario? Its only going slow because the air isn't getting to the heatsink so the CPU is throttling the speed in order not to burn out. If you can't do it yourself, a competent PC shop should only charge an hours labour. I charge £30 to do the job.
This is what I typically find in home used laptops over 12 months old (less if there's a smoker in the house)
And to add insult to injury, a monthly blast out with a £4.99 air duster would have stopped that from happening...0
