nectar points - no longer able to collect at beefeater

Went to Beefeater last night for dinner - noticed a sign up as we went in to say that from 1 feb - you can no longer collect nectar points at Beefeater. :( I don't know why they have done that - I used to enjoy getting the extra nectar points :j Won't stop me going there in the future but will mean that it won't be my first choice of places to go if I'm out for dinner.

    It's normally your first choice????

Treat yourself to a 'road-side' cafe burger once in a while if you fancy going up market :)

But the good news is that if you are a British Gas customer you now get Nectar Points when you pay your bill.
What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?

  • I went to a Table Table restaurant last night, they too have stopped doing Nectar points.

I am currently working for a supplier of software to restaurants - including several large chains.

2 of our larger customers (similar number of branches to Beefeaters) are dropping Nectar for the simple reason that it is costing too much. It is sold to the restaurants that people will come back regularly and collect points, making the restaurant more money, however what is actually happening is that people are collecting all the points on things like supermarket shopping and petrol then going to the restaurants as a one off and getting a free meal.

Hope thats not stating the obvious too much.
Yes, that makes sense - it's exactly how we use them. I've been saving ours for visiting ASK. Are they planning to withdraw from the scheme, do you know?

Nectar points were pretty good about 10 year ago as one could be savvy instore and really build up a total but it's fairly rubbish now.

Sainsbury's own brands used to be excellent but the quality has dropped alarmingly over the past couple of years.

It's a shame as I also once worked for Sainsburys and they were fantastic employers.

Yep, good news if you're British Gas but bad news if you're EDF, as they have stopped doing them :(
  • On a £20 dinner you would get 20p worth of points. Hardly gonna make a huge difference to my dinner plans..
