VLC Media Player

stefano

When I downloaded VLC Media Player, I forgot to untick the "use VLC as your default player" button. I cannot seem to be able to work out how to set it only open .mkv files.
Any help?

It may be as easy to uninstall and reinstall vlc -only takes a minute or two - keep your eye out for playback associations!

WhiteChristmas

Open windows explorer and locate an MKV file. Right-click on it and select "Open with"

Click on "Choose default program..."

Select VLC from the recommended programs list or use "Browse" to locate it if it doesn't appear.

Double check that the "Always use this program" box is ticked before hitting OK.

VLC Tools Preferences , Select Interface scroll right screen down to Associations and away you go to select which you want, This is the same as Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Default Programs\Set Default Programs\Set Program Associations
