Is there such a thing as a Monthly Money Meeting - a fincial wiegth watchers?

I think Martin Lewis and this website are great, but how do people find the motivation to sort out their money side of life?

Has any one come across a Monthly/Weekly Money Meeting - where you can get a financial assessment and the feel good factor of a group getting them selves financially fit.

I've come across the entrepreneurial sites to motivate the 'go getters' but what about those of us that just want to be Fincaially on sound footing. There is lots of information out there but getting motivated to take actions and do something about it is another matter.

Who would such a group work? I guess to get a group of like minded people with the aim to reduce debt, increase saving and enjoy life. I came across the following US new item...
Money Honeys Feed Off Weight Watchers
Money Muscle: Women Form Financial Support Group

What would be the private money weight in? You could not exactly put all your accounts & loans of the weighing scale ;) There are so many area which is shown by the topic if the main site of MSE and differnet forums here. The other thing is you can't give money adivce (like you can diet advice), even when you do see an IFA it's difficult to feel there advice doesn't have the 'secondary gain' and conflict of interests of them getting a cut of the money you invest. Or a mortgae broke that pressures you into a life cover when you have no dependants.

What about a money coach/guru (like gym personal trainer) as I know CAP (Christians Against Poverty) has something like this. But how to you pay for a service like this. A weekly £5 till you hit your fincial wieght? and then you became a gold member and can come along for free? That sounds a little crazy is it's the people that need to get money fit have the least amount of money. The you see debt consolidation companies charging people for arrangmets and advice you can get fro from! It a mind field. You have money reminders and even Martin has his 'The Tart Alert' which you can do and control and have more info in with say google calendar.

So what motivates people to be sensible with their money when there are so many people & companies only to happy to take it off you? And how would a face-to-face support group work?

What do people think?
Regards
Giles
