Aerator for kitchen tap

Ild like to save water and someone mentioned buying an aerator for the kitchen tap. Ive found an aerator online, but it screws into an existing tap. I dont think my kicthen tap's spout unscrews. Does anyone know of an aerator that fits all taps - or even one of those rubber attachments. Ive looked all over the net, been in B&Q and HomeBase and can find one anywhere! Thanks.

That's what I have (as does the rest of the family!) - very good, and comes with a set of different adaptors so should fit anything. The only thing I would point out - it does add quite a bit of length to the tap, so if the head is already quite low then it may not be suitable... although the head swivels so you can direct it anywhere (and I mean 'anywhere'.. don't leave it pointed towards you when switching off or you may get sprayed when you next turn it on :-) )

...and I have had mine for a few years, so I don't know what the people commenting on it have been doing to make theirs last just a few months!!

Yes, Ive seen that. It looks ideal - but my tap's spout doesnt unscrew - so how does it fit on?

There should be a screwed in fitting inside the tap, but i suppose it's possible you don't have one. also i remember seeing a spray attachment with a push on fitting, i think it was in a weekend newspaper mag.

Try your local Water Company, they may be giving them away free. Thames Water definitely are (mine works really well) and they come with a wide variety of fittings for various taps. Ordered on a Friday arrived the following Wednesday.

  • I was interested to see these discussions on aerators. Where I live (British Columbia, Canada) just about every tap I know has an aerator - kitchens, bathrooms, old houses, at work and all new houses have them fitted as standard. They use less water and making the stream splash takes concentration. This has been going on for at least thirty years.

Odd first post. This is the Uk the same nation the wasted the natural gas reserves it was lucky to have.
