Hi I wonder if you can help me as I am stuck.
I have bought a d-link DI-524 wireless router and have been trying without success to connect to my ntl cable modem. The cd which has been included in the pack is supposed to be a 'quick install' but this does not seem to be the case.
I manage to get as far as the internet connection part and then i am told there is a problem with my WAN connection settings but I don't know how to configure these.
Before i go any further does anyone have any ideas - i have tried to look at the d-link site and this is not much use either - have i bought a dummy!!
Many thanks
Kirsty

How did you connect to the NTL modem before trying to use this router? USB or Ethernet cable? Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0

yes the set up advised to ensure the internet connection was connected - i am using ethernet connection.
any ideas?I will not pay over the odds0 -
If you previously connected to the NTL modem using the Ethernet cable, then your Ethernet port should already be working OK. The power up sequence is important. Switch modem and router off and then power up the modem first. Wait for the LED's to stabilise for a couple of minutes before powering up the router. Then without using any quick install program, simply log into the router using http://192.168.0.1 in your browser. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0

thankyou very much that seems to have done the trick, i now have a problem installing the wireless usb adaptor
apparantley the system should detect the new hardware on start up but this has not happened, how do i locate the new hardware device?I will not pay over the odds0 -
Not sure what OS you are using but you normally have to install the USB device driver from the CD, before plugging it in to the PC. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0
