Sorry to ask but: what's all this about a denial of service attack?
It's cropped up as a page header above Discussion Time and other boards.
Yet it says the attack began on Friday, October 26th.
Huh????
Is it still going on now?????

I haven't seen any banner tonight.
Perhaps one of the admins clicked the wrong thing and activated an old announcement for a short time?Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

Thanks browntoa and fermi. All is explained! It must've been some kind of transient error, though it certainly had me bemused.
Sorry about my use of the word 'banner'; it was, of course, in the 'Links' section header of the Discussion Time board and the Praise & Vent. It said MSE was "under attack" but was "fighting back". I thought oh ye gods, so clicked the link and went to a report from Dan, all about the DDOS situation and the way it was coinciding with Martin's PPI campaign.
Anyway. A temporary glitch. And before I start worrying about another link tomorrow saying Martin has been abducted by the Pod People, I'll check here first. . .

Just to add:
It's the "Related Links" which is the cause: out-of-date links are being triggered by topic content. Is there no way of time limiting these????
Currently the 'your newfound favorite website' on DT has triggered an 'MSE Voted Most Trusted Website' link, which opens onto a page dated June 17th, 2009. And of course, the first 'Related Link' on this very thread is, ironically, the one which prompted my OP:
MoneySavingExpert.com attacked: We’re fighting back. Don’t let them win.
Surely, that link is unnecessarily alarming? There's no reason for it to be there. Related it may be, but relevant, definitely not.0 -

Really?
I've gotta admit that since the forum switched to the new style look, those links have been mostly useless. Even more so with the new thread related ones.
So I don't tend to pay them the slightest attention any more.
There is a thread here for feedback on them.
