I am currently on JSA and recently applied for housing benefits too and was told i would be entitled to the full amount. After looking for a job for a few months i finally got a part time job (12 hours) this week.
I was wondering if I stop signing on for JSA will that effect my claim for the (lha)housing benefits( as i was told i can only get housing benefit if i am on JSA?)
any help would be appreciated
thank you

housing benefit/LHA is based on income whether that comes from benefits or employment. They may make a deduction based on your income.
note you can also continue to sign on for JSA as you work under 16 hours per week and this will pay your NI stamp as you are unlikely to be earning enough to pay NI. At your signing session they will ask how many hours you have worked
good luck with the job0 -
Nothing really to add here, Caz has given the right info. HB and CTB is calculated by comparing your applicable amount (what the law says you need to live on which in your case is JSA rate) against your income less an earnings disregard. I can't tell you how much you might have to pay towards your rent and council tax as it depends on your wage. It's really important you let the local authority know as soon as you have any changes as it is they who administer these benefits not the JobcentreI'll get you, my pretty, and your little dog too!0
