Pizza Hut 'Don't Open Me'

Apologies if this is the wrong forum, but the competition forum didn't seem the right place.

During December I received four of these competiton envelopes from Pizza Hut. They have to be opened by the manager between Jan 1st and 10th Feb, and today I returned for a meal and asked if the manager would open them for me. I was told they could only open on envelope on this occasion (I won a portion of garlic bread).

I am a bit peeved because I can't see anything in the T & Cs (http://www.pizzahut.co.uk/termsandconditions.aspx) to say that they will open only one envelope per visit, or even in fact saying that you have to buy anything in order to get your envelope opened. I only have until 10th Feb to have them opened so I don't know if I am expected to make three separate visits (maybe buying three more meals?) in order to find out what's in them!

I've emailed Pizza Hut, but in the mean time, does anyone else have any experience with these vouchers? Has the manager opened more than one at a time for you? It seems wrong to me because I have already made the purchases which entitled me to the vouchers. They seem to be trying to get people to make further purchases to find out what they've won.

10.Only one gift envelope will be given to the bill payer per table, per visit - subject to availability.

    Seems quite obvious to me!

    Do you mean one envelope?

Your story hangs on this fact...so it makes sense if you mean 'one'...
If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.
  • The 'only one envelope' thing refers to when the envelopes were originally given out (in December). They were given out on the basis of one per bill payer. I received four envelopes, and it's the opening of them that I'm having trouble with...the T and Cs just seem to assume that people only have one envelope. All the envelopes contain prizes so I'm keen to get them opened!

I'm sorry if I've confused anyone, I can see why that would be. And I did mean 'one' envelope yes, sorry for the typo. :)
  • Ask for your bills all separately. Pay for the starter, open an envelope. Pay for the main, open the envelope. Pay for the dessert, open the envelope.

Or ask them to show you the T&C that states only one can be OPENED at a time.

That would have been the sensible thing to do, and I wish I had done that now! But I assumed I'd made a mistake and not read the T and Cs properly, it was only when I got home and checked it online that I thought 'hang on a minute!'

Oh I see what you mean now! Hmmm very odd.
  • The Manager of !!!!a Hut would struggle to open my envelope,
  • On one recent visit to Pizza Hut they opened 5 envelopes our table had. On a subsequent visit they refused to open more than one of the three we had (lots of visits to Pizza Hut before Christmas).

Sent an email complaint via the website, and they've agreed to honour the remaining two vouchers on a future visit, even after the deadline date.

But I agree - there is nothing in the T&Cs that say they will only redeem one voucher per visit. And even though you can split into multiple bills, some of the vouchers are 50% off your food bill, so you end up missing out in this case.
  • Thankyou for your info aheaton46. It looks like Pizza Hut staff are confused about what their policy is, never mind the customers!

I had a look on Pizza Hut UK's facebook page and someone had asked whether you need to make a purchase to get your envelope opened, and they (Pizza Hut) answered that no you do not - which would make the policy of opening only one envelope at a time (if indeed it is a policy and not just confusion over the rules) even more silly!
