HTC Wildfire - WiFi Question

I have a Wildfire. It connects without a problem to my home router.
I got a message on my phone today telling me there was a software upgrade available but that due to the size of the upgrade, it was advisable that I use a WiFi connection to do it or I might be charged data charges.
My question is this; How can I be sure that it's downloading over my WiFi and not over Three's 3g network? Is there a setting on the phone that if WiFi is available, does the phone automatically use it over the 3g connection?
Thanks

I have a Wildfire (on Vodafone) and it appears that it does use wifi rather than 3G when wifi is connected. However, to be sure why don't you simply turn off the mobile connection while you do the download? Go into settings and click on Mobile Network to turn the connection off and back on once the download is done.
Edit: I hadn't downloaded the update myself so I've just gone into the phone to do it, when it brings up the screen telling you about the update at the bottom you can choose to download over a) mobile or wifi, or b) wifi only - simples!0 -

When you have a dot with waves coming out of it, it's wifi.
When you have 2 arrows, 1 pointing up, 1 point down, it's 3G.
It won't use 3G if Wi-fi is available, as per when you go into Wireless and Networks above, one of the options is "Use phone for data connection when Wi-Fi is unavailable".0 -
Very reassuring, thanks all. I've read enough threads on here from people who get an unexpectedly huge bill because they've been connected when they thought they weren't that I'm a bit paranoid."If you think it's expensive to hire a professional to do the job, wait until you hire an amateur." -- Red Adair0
