Childcare vouchers whilst at college?

Just a quick question...

I receive child tax credits and am currently studying full-time at college - am I able to claim vouchers for help towards childcare?

Thanks.

Are you a lone parent or do you have a partner? Do you work as well as study?

As of the beginning of this year I am a lone parent.
I just study, no work - which is why I'm not too sure on the whole childcare vouchers availability and whether I can apply.

To claim help through tax credits you need to be working 16hours plus per week

You have to be working to claim childcare vouchers as they are exempt of tax and NI to make them worth more than their value. Childcare help via tax credits you'd need to work 16 hours or more. How old is child/ren? There is non means tested funding at nursery for child term after 3rd birthday 15 hours per week.

Depending on your age and other circumstances you may be able to claim some help with childcare. Have a look at the link below for details

Ahh, right I see. Thanks for clearing that up. :)

DD is 18 months old now, nursery fees are reasonable for her (£70 for 64 hours a month), just still find myself struggling with that some months.

Will definitely take a look at that link MrsManda, thank you. :)

The college pay 85% of my childcare costs - the £70 a month is what is left over for me to pay.
I never knew nursery fees were so expensive! :-O
