Hi Folks
This may sound like a silly question to you -
But I am having a new landline fitted in my property, with the intention of having a new landline phone. Can I choose my own phone number? i.e A number that I can remember easily?
Thank You.

Normally residential customers are given the next available number from the number pool.0

When i had a BT line installed the sales agent gave me a choice of numbers to select. Ok it was not a massive list but I was able to select one with a nice ring to it (if you pardon my pun).0

When we got our new line, we had to have the first 3 digits that BT gave us, as that was our local exchange, but were given a choice as to the next 3 numbers. Chose one that sounded easy to remember, only to discover that evening (first evening in new house) that it was one digit away from the local Indian takeaway. I changed it again the next morning...
To answer your query, when I've had a BT line there has been some choice, neither Virgin or ntl (do they still exist?) gave me a choice, just assigned a number. Ask and see what you get :-)
