Bank Charges

My sons bank have just taken £300 out of his bank for overdraft charges relating from November. He paid £160 in December which brought him upto date. He has not withdrawn any money from his account since, yet bank are now say the charges relate from November. He is unemployed and the money he had in his account was his jobseekers allowance. How can he get this money back.
