Help with Windows on Laptop

Hi There,

I hope I have posted in the correct area, if not apologies.

My laptop went in for repair with Techguys. I had a nightmare with them as they lost my laptop, then found it and returned it. However, when the laptop arrived, the usb port was not working as well as the ESC button, so the laptop went back to repair.

Laptop arrived yesterday and when switching it on, I keep getting a box come up asking me to activate windows! I already had wiondows on the laptop, however this time, my picture which was on the background first time round, was not ont here. I used the product key on the back of the laptop but it says its already in use. When I have tried to update and run microsoft security essesstials, it says windows did not pass genuine validation and M.S.E will become disabled after 30 days.

Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks.

Just call Microsoft (the activation lines are (identified by Google search) 0800 018 8354 and 0870 2411963) and explain to them what's happened. They should be sympathetic and assist.

Thanks for your reply and advice. I will do that first thing Monday, hopefully it will be straight forward as the laptops given me nothing but stress.

Hi,

You don't have to wait for Monday, you can do it tommorow. I have done this on a Sunday and I spoke to someone in the USA and they activated windows over the telephone.
