Value Plants and Shrubs around Reading / Bracknell / Windsor / Maidenhead
Hi All,
I would like to make some improvements to my plant stocks in my garden this spring but am on a limited budget. I used to use a really great value for money nursery up in Oxford but with the fuel costs these days it is too expensive to make the trip.
I have really been struggling to find a good, cheap plant nursery in the Thames Valley area (Reading / Bracknell / Windsor / Maidenhead) and was wondering if anyone could give me some ideas? I have tried the big multiples but when I add up the cost of what I need it is just to pricey. Some of them seem to charge £15 for a small shrub these days where 5 years ago I could get the same shrub for £3.99 in Oxon. If you need 10 or 20 of them then you can see the problem!!
Many thanks
Paul
so far my list is:
Oaktree Nursery in Warfield (near Bracknell)
Thanks
Paul

Hi, I don't live there, but do you have Wilkinsons near you, or B&Q they are oftern good.
Or maybe growing from seed?0 -
I always go to Flowerland in Bourne End when I'm in the area. It's not desperately cheap but I think it's reasonable quality and value and they have quite a wide choice.0

Hi,
No Wilko's sadly but I will give Flowerland in BE a go.
Thx

There's a Wilkinsons in Maidenhead High St, where Woolworths used to be.0

Flowerland in Bourne End is alright but the Garden Centre On Braywick Rd http://www.braywickheath.co.uk/ is very well priced as it is Not For Profit social enterprise to help local people.
If you drive up Knowl Hill way, about 10 minutes out of Maidenhead there are about 10 Garden Centres and Nurseries within a mile of eachother.
...and if you get to Slough you would be hard pushed to spend a tenner.
Poundworld & land, 99p store, the works, wilkos and loads of cheapish shops all round the high st. Not to mention b&q there too. Maidenhead has a Wilko, Alworths and a couple of quid shops.
There is really good value to be had around the High St nowadays.0 -
There's a Wilkinsons in Reading now and the Market has a stall that can have some good bargains.0
