Parking penalty by Mcdonalds

Hello,
I was issued a parking ticket for 100.00 GBP becz i parked for longer than the designated time in a mcdonalds restaruant in london. The problem is that the notice was issued about 1 month after the offence and by then i had moved to the new place and updated address with DVLA. The company sent multiple letters to old address and eventually transferred the case to debt recovery who sent me few more mails and the penalty was totalled to 255.00 with their expenses. i have now negotiated and they have asked me to pay 120.00 in 7 days.
I am extremely distressed by the way the original company which issued me ticket have handled the case. They were clearly negligent in checking the correct address just before posting the letter and they never bothered to double check the address even when i did not respond for 3 months. I believe they should have checked the right address just before posting the letter to me and not 1 month before. I would like to sue them for causing me unnecessary distress because of this negligence. Can someone advice me if i can sue them??

best regards
Naveen

    Don't sue and don't pay.

You are being scammed, the parking company is taking advantage of you.

Companies cannot fine or punish you - only the state can do that.

Their ticket is unenforceable, so they are pleased to get anything they can.

Ignore everything from now on, the letters will stop in the end.

Please don't pay a penny. You have not commited an "offence" and you have not broken any laws. Stop contacting them and ignore all correspondence from them. You are taking these people too seriously.

    Ignore them.

If you want to do something then write to McDonalds and complain that they are using these cowboys. Point out that from now on you will use Burger King.

The gentleman you want to harass at McDonalds is the UK CEO Steve Easterbrook. Email all the addresses below - one should get through but you will get some bounce back messages :

    Just ignore.

Tell me, if someone genuinely owed you £255.00 would you only accept £120.00 ?

    It is a scam.

Last year a friend of mine received an invoice from the monkeys employed by McDung to 'control' their car parks. He was still in the restaurant, but apparently they allow you 45 minutes there.

As soon as I heard his tale I got him to contact his company fleet department and tell them not to pay any invoices. (They are not fines, because private companies cannot fine you).

Eventually the idiots gave up and he saved himself some money.

I do have to say though that considering the number of times people are told that these parking 'invoices' are un-enforceable, some will still pay.

Perhaps the advice given here should be made a sticky at the top of the motoring forum?

    Interesting development?

Came through the news today that kids who are fed junk food have a lesser IQ as the ones who were fed proper food. Perhaps the PPC owners and their employees suffer from lack of intelligence for exactly that reason? ;)
