Help knowing where to start

I am currently living in the Uk and my partner lives in France. I am registered disabled and currently get DLA and Incapacity Benefit. My partner is going to have to move back to the Uk as I am needing more and more care. I just don't know where to start as I live in a housing association flat and am getting help with Housing and Council Tax Benefit. Now is obviously not going to have any work as soon as he comes back but hopes to be self employed eventually.

Basically I need some adsvise on who I need to tell and will I still get help with the benefits until he is working?

It is so confusing and I have looked everywhere for the answers.

You need to call Housing benefit and speak to them. They will need to know if there is someone else in the house. You could call them and say this is something your thinking about and how would it effect you or what do you need to do and their tell you.

What other benefits do you get, DLA? Income support? JSA? etc etc whatever benefit your on your also need to call them to see what they say.

Hi basic advice is to tell everyone who give you a benefit that you have or will have a change in circumstances in that your partner is moving in. For your house, check with the housing association that he can live with you (ie the landlord agrees/the property is big enough/the tenancy agreement allows it). DLA is not affected but your partner may be able to claim Carers Allowance for looking after you. Again there are rules and regulations regarding who can claim, how much they can earn before it affects the claim etc. To get Carers Allowance you have to receive DLA Mid Rate Care or above.

YOU MUST BE VERY CAREFUL as depending on his status he may or may not be able to claim any benefits in the uk. If he claims in error it may affect his status to stay in the UK. Its hard to give you advice on this situation as you've not said if he is a uk/european citizen or from outside this area and what passport he holds etc.

Your best bet is to go to Citizen's Advice or similar with all the details and they can tell you more.
