OMG Discharged.

I have just checked the Insolvency website and they discharged me on 26 January. My fabber is well and truely gasted! Hubby who also went BR same day tho isn't discharged, he only has to wait another 5 weeks until AD but I think it has still upset him a bit that we haven't been discharged together. Our situation is the same except he works and I don't.:o

Got all sorts of questions going round in my brain now. :p what happens next!!!!

Thanks guys. Yesterday was a really crappy day for me, it was the 19th anniversary of my father’s death (I was only 17, and Mum died 5 yrs ago too) and I was feeling pretty apathetic and uninterested in life in general and I haven’t been sleeping well lately – so quite grumpy

I had been reading some posts on the boards and something told me to have a quick look at the insolvency website. I checked hubby’s as I normally do as his name is before mine and saw that there was nothing new, don’t usually bother then to check mine, but I did and I nearly fell off my chair!

Kinda changed the tone of the day for me! I know hubby was upset because when I followed him up to bed, the light was already out, and that is not the norm. Anyway I had checked a few more names on the register who had gone BR around the same time as both Hubby and I and it seemed to me that the only people who our office had given ED to were unemployed or self employed people, other people who were ED were being looked after by other offices. I am a student, but hubby works. Obviously I don’t have that as a confirmed statistic but that was when seemed to be coming up to me last night and I think it appeased hubby too. :)

    What questions?

As for answering your question Fermi. It was questions like:

    · Will I be able to open a savings account with a bank now?
    • Will I be able to open a bank account with my children and my BR not cause them any problems now? I need to get them sorted as I need them to learn the value of saving NOW not when they are older like me!
    • When can I start “cleaning” my credit file? (I know the sticky is on here and I will read that later.
    • Will I be able to get a mobile phone contract when I want one now?
    · Is the ED the reason why the OR hasn’t replied to an email I sent her a weeks ago??? :S – Maybe someone on here can answer that for me! :o

Our house has been repossessed by HSBC and having sorted the council tax issue out ages ago, the house is on the market now, Eon are still billing me for gas and elec. We left last May and turned everything off, but I lost the meter reading figures in the move (silly me) Eon sent me a bill for Estimated charges in December of over £800! but I had taken meter readings in October so was able to counteract that and ended up that I was over £86 in credit with them – the house was taken by HSBC in October so I have no access to read meters now and the latest bill from Eon (a month after the big December one) has come in that we again owe money – only £21 but still an estimated reading. I want to go and see – or at least get the agents to do me a reading, so emailed the OR to see what I need to do about this situation. Have heard nothing back! :(

Sorry for the long post I have had all night to think of these!

  • Well done on your Ed. Has any one whos working got early discharge recently?
It said in the letter i was sent that it didnt make a differance to ed if you had a ipa or not, is this true? I wonder why they send out ed discharge forms when so few people seem to get it.

Should be OK as long as primarily in their name. May depend on the bank though.

I would leave it for a few months. That give the creditors a chance to update things themselves, which may save you some work.

You are still likely to struggle getting a contract.

  • Congratulations

I know that fall of your chair feeling :rotfl:

Just for your 'statistics' I'm self employed with very low variable income and got ed

FWIW my case has been sent to RTLU but I think that's because there's a property involved (no equity) but only found that out when I rang the is office for a change of details
