Wedding Venues in Glasgow

Hi everyone I'm new to the board, my other half pointed it out to me.
I am looking for some help and advice about wedding and reception venues in or around Glasgow.
We are on a very tight budget and we really don't want a big wedding anyways. We are looking for places to get married and also if need be places to hold the reception as well, we don't want to do a registry office and we don't want a sit down meal, all we really want to do is get married and have a party with our friends an family afterwords.
Everywhere we have seen charges either a fortune to hire or they want you to use their caterers for a meal that we do not want.
If anyone could give us some help or advice it would be greatly appreciated,
Thank you

Hi Nicky
are you set on a particular area of glasgow? i play rugby and the rugby club halls can be quite affordable to rent out and a good place for a party?
good luck with it all!0 -
hi
We would like it as near to the center of Glasgow as possible but we are open to anywhere really, I don't know many Rugby clubs though, could you point me in the right direction, thank you0 -
Most places will be able to get a day licence so if you like somewhere why not ask if you can hire out a section or room without hire charge if your guests buy a minimum number of drinks most places would be happy to accept the business aslong as they are making more money than usual so if you pick a midweek day your offer is more likely to be accepted.0

I had my 40th in Goals in Shawlands - not too far from the city centre. I organised my own buffet and it cost far less than Goals wanted.
If a certain amount was spent at the bar it was free including DJ - can't remember how much I had to pay initially but got it refunded cos all my friends/family are alkies so spent more than needed at the bar.
