Sorry Sue, my reply wasn't very helpful, I was thinking out loud.

Naturana brand seem to have a few .

It doesn't look like you're going to have much luck shopping in the real world. I know it's not ideal, but can you order a selection online using a credit card, so you can have a good variety to try on at home and send back what don't suit, without having to fork out the cash upfront?

Bronnie that's fine. I suppose I could even TRY to put my own on tomorrow, and see what happens. I can always take it off - unless I get stuck! :rotfl:

The ones in the link Torry posted look nice and comfy, except that I'm sure they would rub my scar, they look quite 'fitted' round the arm / shoulder. And they don't seem to have any adjustment in the shoulder straps. Since I always seem to walk away from bra fittings and lengthen the straps to their longest, that would worry me a bit.

    Ho hum.

Trouble is, I'm busy every day next week, and then we're going on holiday, and I'd like to get at least ONE new bra for that!

I just didn't think, in a big place like this, that it would be SO hard to get a well fitted bra!

I use to be one for the fasten at front and swivel. But I bought some Bravissimo bras and they fit tight round your chest, and found it really hard to swivel. So I learnt to do them up at the back, I'm amazed I can do it now!

I remember having a couple of bras that did up at the front, but I was 12/13 at the time!

well, I tried, and I'm in! :j All By Myself!

but I still need new ones. and it's still going to be a nightmare buying 40/42 with a small cup size and non-underwired. This is a 42D I'm in (accidental purchase) and the cups are too big, so I suppose in theory I could also try a 44C, as if that's going to be any easier ...

    Sigh.

No they don't have any adjustment in the shoulder straps. They fit me so well that I had to check myself if they do as I have never needed to adjust them!

    Hope you find something

Mothercare: we don't have one in the centre of town, you've got to go to a retail park. And no, I'm not pregnant, but that's the last time I had front fastening bras!

They're not so common these days for nursing Mums either - most nursing bras these days are of the "drop cup" style, so that you only expose the parts necessary and can do so (& re-fasten) one-handed.

Trouble is, there is demand but not enough of it. Probably a 1000 people who come in 5 would ask for one, so it doesnt make sense for them to have them. If we did stock one, it wouldnt be the right colour/material and everything else!!

I know royce did one when i used to work in the biz. The only other option is to see if they have them in the old ladies mags, or try a website for the more mature lady.

    Hope you find one!!

Today I went to John Lewis. Didn't bother asking for front fastening bras, just said I didn't know what size I was.

And guess what? it's back to 'ladies with an underbreast measurement of 40+" must need at least a D cup.':mad::mad:

There was ONE 40B, but it didn't fit well. No 40C. 40D looks appalling. I'd happily try 42A, B or C but of course there were none of them either.

    It's discrimination, that's what it is ...

Anyway, I have come away with a Sloggi crop top. It's not great to put on or take off, and I don't think it gives much support, but it was the best she could do. And a bit of research indicates that they do this in a 42, which might a) be easier to get on and off and b) give a bit more support.

Off to email the specialist shop that's 10 miles away: they do have some front fastening styles, but if I can get even rear fastening ones which fit I will be happy!

I wear the Sloggi crop top. It can be difficult to put on and off, my husband can be very helpful for this, However it is very comfortable and I find it fairly supportive with a DD cup!

I have the Sloggi double comfort crop top, I find it quite hard to get it down over my shoulders as it seems to curl around itself.

I also have a couple of silk crop tops that are much easier to get on - just like popping on a small vest - and they are very comfortable. Silk fabric should be very kind to any scars you have. I bought them from here...

I know you would prefer to try on but I really think you might find these ideal for you. I find the sizing runs quite large, if you order you may want to try a few styles and sizes then return what does not suit.
