I was just wondering who/ how this kind of campaign was set?
I am working for a local hospice within corporate fundraising, and this kind of thing would be perfect. Is it as easy as contacting companies directly and pitching this idea to them?0 -
Hi kjrbeck
IME these kind of things usually start with a polite phonecall - if you don't ask you don't get! It's definitely worth it. Make sure you've got a list of what promotion they'll get in return, for example being mentioned on your website, newsletters, posters in your hospice and how many people that will reach. It may also help to build up a FB page before you start because if you're paying for something that's established then I'd guess it's easier to get financial backing because there's a guaranteed audience. Do you know anyone in a local newspaper or radio station that would be willing to give this a mention if it was set up? Because that could help encourage potential people.
A word of advice here, be prepared to be turned away a lot. However in my experience if you make enough bright and polite phonecalls eventually you find someone that will help! It can help to have an opening blurb ready prepared, you'll need to ask who you need to speak to and you can end up being bounced through a few departments before you get to someone who that can make a decision - IME it's easy to dry up between bounces!0
