Question Wii-PS3-XBOX 360?

Oh, I'm getting a Wii! I'm very excited about it. Nintendo just has the feel I like and is the only company bringing out a new console that is genuinely different to its predecessor. ps3 and xbox360 are just upgrades of the older models and will just have the same sorts of games but more expensive.

All I can say is that Sony servers are full of cheats and glitchers within certain games if u play online, XBox servers are meant to be really healthy as you pay for the service.
I would go to a good shop and demo all 3 consoles.0 -
Another thing to consider is that Sony and Microsoft consoles break a LOT. I have never known anyone to have a problem with a Nintendo console. This is something to bear in mind and certainly don't lose your receipt!

Dont like the motion control on the WII so that is an immediate non-starter
Personally I would go for a PS3 (subject to price which I havent looked at) as this would give me a Blu-Ray player whilst the whole BR/ DVD-HD competition goes onAll posts made are simply my own opinions and are neither professional advice nor the opinions of my employers

My boys 9,7 and 4 love nintendo and so we are buying the Wii (if we can get one!) They love all the mario, pokemon games you can get.
My husband tried out the PS3 yesterday as he was involved in the production of a chip for it at work. I'll get him to post on a personal review later if you like.
Cost is also a consideration too as the PS3 will be a lot more expensive than the Wii.:j Trytryagain FLYLADY - SAYE £700 each month Premium Bonds £713 Mortgage Was £100,000@20/6/08 now zilch 21/4/15:beer: WTL - 52 (I'll do it 4 MUM)0 -
Which ever can run homebrew first is the priority for me.
I've got a 360 at the moment. Very happy with it. I think the Wii will be the main contender. Not sure about the PS3, I think it'll sell well, mainly due to fans of the PS2. Will have to wait and see how it does. The 360 has a years head start with regards to games, and the community trying to mod it."Boonowa tweepi, ha, ha."0 -
PS3 all the way for me kids! I've been intently reading up about the hype relating to its release in Japan a few days ago and America today and things are looking good for the console! The 60Gb version of the american console is on ebay US for $8,100 in some cases! Now thats an effective business! They're lucky they got Christmas nutters bidding on their goods!
I wouldnt say I hate the other consoles, but as a more mature gamer, I'd have to pass on the Wii (just the name says it all!) and I'm not sure whether I trust the 360 yet, so will be sticking with the PS3, cos it looks sleek and visually appealing, is crammed full of goodies (wi-fi, net browsing, Blu-ray, HD graphics etc) and is aimed toward a more mature, experienced gamer!
Maybe we should start a thread of how to get these things legally in this country, and not pay over the odds like in America, as the waiting period is March 2007, and I'm afraid I might just burst :eek:0 -

I personally find the PS3 over hyped.
With regards to processing power, neither it nor the 360 is as powerful as a typical PC. I believe they're compared to an Athlon 64 3200+. They are fast chips, but stripped out and function very different to a typical PC.
The PS3 in comparison to the 360 is difficult to gauge. There are numerous benchmarks for the PS3 by IBM although from what I've read they're not exactly real in terms of what it'll actually be doing. More a statistic that inaccurately reflects its power. I'd say it is slightly more powerful though.
Also when it comes to graphical power, from the specs I've seen, the 360 is actually superior, and far more efficient. Microsoft have been very clever with their system and reports would show that it's a lot cheaper to manufacture than the PS3.
I'm not totally convinced by the Blu-Ray drive either. It's an unproven format so far. Plus with regards to games, what games are going to need 400 minutes worth of high definition footage. In fact would it be economically feasible to produce such a game with that amount of footage. Also can the PS3 truly take advantage of this with its RAM limitations?
And finally the PS3 is by far the hardest console to develop for due to its architecture. If anything I'd say the Wii is the dark horse, it certainly gives a different approach to gaming. I think Sony have taken a very risky approach and are largely relying on fanboys to buy up their system again. The only downside for me regarding the 360 is that it's not as moddable as the original Xbox
At the end of the day though it's the games that make the console. So far the 360 is leading due to its 1 year head start."Boonowa tweepi, ha, ha."0
