If the new price came out to £32.13, and the gym rounded it down to £32.10, would the OP be complaining?

What's that got to do with anything?!

Obviously you would be pleased if someone reduced their fees but not if they increased them.

charlieboy_80 - it depends what your contract says. Does it give them the option to increase prices? If so then it's tough luck I'm afraid. It does seem sharp practice but I've heard of companies increasing fees by much more and trying to hide it as part of the VAT increase.

  • Re the outrageous haircutting price - I *totally* agree with everyone who says it's madness! But I've tried almost every other salon around me (central London) and they aren't much cheaper, but do a much worse job; so over the years I've found it to be false economy to use the slightly-cheaper ones. I've tried the £5 (now £7) salon several times, but that was *really* false economy, for me anyway - my hubby goes there all the time and they do a great job on him. Toni&Guy's prices seem to have risen in leaps and bounds in the past few years, so now I just go fewer and fewer times a year to counterbalance the high price ... no idea how anyone can afford colouring and treatments etc etc at a place like that

Parents! My mum pays £120  for my cut & colour because she was fed up of me getting cheap cuts and home colours. If it was me I'd stick with the cheap option!

That being said I don't think I've ever seen anywhere that does women's cuts for less than about £20 for a trim. Why is it that women's haircuts are so much more expensive that men's? I understand with fancy stuff but when it's just a trim?

  • Perhaps members of MSE could do a collection and donate OP 3p x 12 = £36. OOPS, I mean 36p.

    What you think?

Because both ways are equally unfair.

If the OP received a lower rate because of rounding, shouldn't they do the honest thing and return the money?

Unless things are only unfair when they don't benefit you.
