Victory!!! Seller finally gave in

I started a thread last month after a seller backed out of selling me a bike that I had won. I had basically won it far to cheap. I won the auction for £311 and it's worth £1500. Please see the following thread for a reminder:

Anyway, I just like to tell everyone that I used the case of the solictor taking a seller to court for refusing to sell. I threatened him with loss of contract. Four days later he gave in and decided to sell. It then took me ages to get the bike but that was partly my fault. I've now taken delivery of the bike.
Thanks for all of the advice. That's what this forum is all about. :T

well done you. never understood people that somehow expect to get a certain price for there item and then when it doesnt reach the price in their head refuse to sell, they couldnt do that in a walk in court house so couldn't understand why they thought they could with ebay. if they wanta certain price, stick down as a buy it now... ok it might cost a little more but surely worth a lot less hassle.Listen to what people say, but watch what people what people do!!0

Brilliant result, well done for standing your ground and showing that, despite all the doom and gloom merchants, it CAN be done! :TI only exist in my own mind - if you can see, hear or read me, you are a product of my imagination.0

I couldn't of done that myself, i'd feel like i just ripped him off and forced him to lose money, whether it was a legally binding contract or not.0

Why on earth feel bad that a seller wasn't savvy enough to either set a reserve or start the auction at the lowest price they were willing to accept?:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0 -

Yep, I'm chuffed thanks.
You might laugh at this but the brakes aren't quite right. I don't think he's sabotaged them though.
But I'll have to pay the bike shop to realign them. They're worth £250 so I'm happy enough to get them realigned for a tenner.

I know if I was selling DPs Marin B-17 (original not new version) I would start it at a price I would be willing to expect. I don't know if I should say well done or not as I would probably feel guilty personally. One day I might be more organised...........
