I've been told plenty of times in different jobs that they need me to do a risk assessment, to see if the environment I'm in is suitable for my eyes- and it's always an office job sitting behind a pc!
I'm allowed to drive a car, and think on that basis, I'd probably be alright sitting static at a desk. :)

I think the only concession I've ever been offered officially is larger printed exam papers!

An old boyfriend's aunt once tried to have a go at me over my eyes- she was a dragon. She'd said to me that she didn't know how 'people like me' were allowed to drive, surely we must be a huge risk to other drivers? Not at all, I'd said, I'm more aware maybe than others, not necessarily better or worse. The reply I had was- Well, I'd feel uncomfortable driving along and seeing you coming, you're a huge risk to my car, and I do feel very uncomfortable that you're allowed to drive on the same road as me- I don't ever want to drive near you.
Only reply I could think of was to tell her I'd feel uncomfortable driving near her also, as although I'd been driving longer, I'd never had an accident (not even a bump) at that stage, whereas she'd managed three write-off's in two years (all her own fault too!)

I wasn't invited to their Christmas party that year! :)
  • I lost a eye when I was 12, I have had no problem in doing anything I have wanted to do. having only the sight in one eye is not a dissabilty, I have driven for 45 years without a problem, it's a advantage when taking photos as all you see is 2D anyway!. The only thing that annoys me at the moment is the family want to buy a 3D tv!!:)
