Credit card applications declined numerous times

  • No they dont. Each hold seperate information on you.

It should all be the same as each lender should be updating the same to each CRA. But sometimes it isnt.

Also, as some lenders only search certain CRAs, it is vital you check all 3. Namely Experian, Equifax and Callcredit.

When you have used a credit card in the past through tarting, did you close it down after? As you could be showing as having high borrowings (or potential borrowings!) already, and that's why they are declining you.

What absolute nonsene this post is

Why have you not phoned bank of america for an explanation of the declined Amazon application?

If anything you will be damaging your credit score due to multiple applications is a short time frame

I hadn't phoned them yet as I found it was a pointless when I phoned up about why my Post Office credit card was declined. The customer service guy said he doesn't have that information and all I can do is request an appeal.

I suppose though it might be different this time as I'll be asking the issuer directly (unlike Post Office where the issue was Bank of Ireland and I wasn't speaking to them). I'll give them a call.

Finally managed to see my credit report from Experian and I think I might know why I was declined for the credit cards.

Although Equifax has my electrol roll information for my current address, Experian only has the electrol roll information for my previous address.
Is it up to my local council to update Experian, or should Experian correct this? Equifax has the correct, up to date information so they at least must have been told by the council.

Another odd thing is although I applied for the Post Office credit card in January, their search does not appear in the Experian report. In fact, the only search that appears is my own when I requested the credit report. The Post Office told me to contact Experian for my report so why would they tell me to contact them if they didn't use Experian to do the search? Odd.

Apart from that, my report shows the only credit I have are the two cards mentioned and all other accounts were settled as expected. No late payments either.

Obviously it was meant as him having a high potential borrowing, as in he could have various cards with high limits still open, but not being used. Of course this would affect a lender's decision, as he has access to a lot of credit already, whether being used or not.
The OP has answered my question now anyway!

Just emailed Experian asking them to update my electrol roll information - I've been registered as a voter in my current address for over 2 years so I assume they can get the current information themselves.
It's a bloody cheek they can only respond by email or post to queries if I'm not a paid CreditExpert member. To have them update my report which they should be doing it anyway, whether I like it or not!

I'm not holding my breath to see how long it takes them to reply. Although it goes against my principal, do people find they get quicker results if they temporariliy join CreditExpert to have issues with their credit report sorted?

I had a similar issue and it was updated with my new address the day after the council gave them the bulk update in January. They were very quick so I had no problem. You could do with checking with your council to ensure you are correctly registered.
