Annoyed, misadvertising

My OH has joined up to love film on his ps3, and with our last disk, we got a advert flyer thing for vista print. Get a mug with your own picture on for 99p!!!!!

Sounded great, never used them before but started making my mug, had pics of the dogs on, funky writing etc etc. I loved it.

Went to checkout, standard delivery was over a fiver!!!!!!!!!!!

Just feel a bit cheated really, the advert we got didnt say anything about delivery, and did make it out like you got a mug for 99p :(

Vistaprint's prices are more random than the lottery - I could pay any one of a half-dozen prices for the same thing depending on which of their promotional emails I follow a link in. I have had some incredible bargains from them (eg a mug, vinyl banner, 100 postcards and some stickers for £8 delivered), but you have to keep your head screwed on.

And you have to be careful with tick boxes, be vigilant or they will sign you up to something or other.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

Think yourself lucky. If you had bought the mug you'd have probably been tied into some transaction where they were ripping off your bank account for umpteen pounds every so often without you knowing. All due to their crafty small print. ;)
There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.
  • Good job you did not go for the business cards as well!

Guys, I have to stand up for Vistaprint a little here - they do do some *belting* deals for freebies and teasers, as I mentioned above - and that shopping club thing they used to push is less hard sell now. Mugs from Cafepress are £11 a pop, plus whatever they charge for P&P. Just a little perspective.
  • But the mug IS 99p! If delivery isn't mentioned, don't you assume that it will be added later?

Surely it costs more than 99p to send?

Why would any business want to lose money intentionally?

Because that small loss on the first order would be soon undone by you repeated custom (in theory)

I don't think the company were doing anything intentionally shifty - the 99p does seem to be a very good deal.

They were just somewhat inept offering a good deal on an item such that the inevitable p&p charges would dwarf the highlighted cost.
