Is it then feasable and acceptable, that you can register to vote at one address, but be living at another (for whatever reason, like me),without breaking any laws?

Could I tell the council where i want to register, exactly that,as there is no mention of sole residence etc on the form?

As far as I'm aware from an electoral list point of view it is OK (think of students living away or people who live away for work but still register at 'home')

I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.
