You know if I were of less an amenable disposition than I am I might just be offended by this diatribe and I'm sure others here would be too.
Cheers
Wasn't my intention :silenced:. Actually the trades that are on here are generally very much the exception as they demonstrate the right attitude by the fact they try to help people and offer professional advice :A.
If you do a quality job thats really great, but for many, many people the only way they are going to find that out for sure is when your plumbing doesn't leak! (and you obviously have not done anyone I know)

Agreed - Lay off the tradesmen, as the op has mentioned the bodger got the job as he was cheapest.
As a bathroom fitter/tiler it isn't much fun when you're expected to accept £50 a day cash and polish a turd of a bathroom.0 -

It takes some time and effort but you can polish a turd (but not on £50 a day).:D

Its cowboys that get trades a bad name because they belong to the "bodgit and scarper" club. Unfortunately too many peeps decide on price. You can have a really cheap job or you can have a proper job - what you can't have as a cheap proper job. Thats why you must get more that one quote and you must take references (and I don't mean those silly ratings on internet referral sites) and insist on talking to previous clients. Oh and BTW yes I've had my (smallIf you do a quality job thats really great, but for many, many people the only way they are going to find that out for sure is when your plumbing doesn't leak! ) share of leaks - there is noone out there who hasn't if they are totally honest. But such need dealing with in a professional manner.
I'd be delighted but there is certainly a moral obstacle to so doing and I should prolly politely decline as I didn't join here to solicit business. There is prolly a practical one too. Murphy's Law says you and I are several million parsecs apart and the fuel premium on the diesel at current prices would be horrendous.Want to quote for my en-suite?
