Hi
I moved in with my partner in October i am divorced but he is not.
He wants to divorce his ex but cannot afford solicitors etc so i have been browsing the web and have seen these companies etc that say you can get quicky divorces for less than a £200 . Has anyone ever tried one of these and if so what was your experiences etc
PS Just to note his ex agrees to the divorce with no assetts between them etc

When I got divorced I didn't use a solicitor so it cost me £0 - you can do it yourself easily if there are no assets, children involved etc just by getting the forms from the local family court. We did have children, but no assets. He used a solicitor, but I didn't. Hope that helps?Olympic Countdown Challenge #145 ~ DFW Nerd #389 ~ Debt Free Date: [STRIKE]December 2015[/STRIKE] September 2015

Agree with the above....if you can read and write then you can do a divorce without solicitors...there is still likely to be court costs of about £4000 -
Mine didnt cost anything as i was on benefits at the time and my ex husband didnt have a solicitor so it cost him nothing
I rang the local county court who said the fee is £340 so might as well do that
Thanks allBSC MEMBER 319 - AD 22ND JULY 20110 -
Divorce in this case is very easy. As there are no assets or children all you have to do is petition for divorce. You can get from the courts called a D8 form.
Maybe use unreasonable behaviour as a reason for the divorce. You can use things like she farts in bed and picks her nose and puts it in your food etc. Usually there will be a number of incidents. But seriously, you can use she was a workaholic, always went clubbing with her friends and sometimes stayed out until the next day, paid no attention to you etc…
If your partner makes the application, he is known as the petitioner and the other person is known as the respondent.
If the divorce is undefended it will be held in a county court. You submit the petition, the ORIGINAL marriage certificate, a certificate to confirm if the parties have tried reconciliation and the court fee of £340.00.
The court then serves the respondent. The respondent then can choose to accept or contest. It seems there will be no need to contest and therefore nothing needs to be done. She (The respondent) would then just sign it and sent it back to the courts. The petitioner can say that he will only claim costs if the petition is defended.
Once the court has the petition, they will move onto what is known as Decree Nisi. Six weeks after this the petitioner can ask for Decree Absolute, which means they are fully divorced.
Its that simple!!!
Hope this helps. The papers can be all acquired from the courts. Lucky Bas***d for having a wife who doesn’t want anything off him.
