I'm a little under 5' so often the petite range is still too long and most of the shops near me don't even have a petite range! DPs does and Next has about 3 items and that's me done. And it's not only problems with trousers, there's also the problem of the shoulder seams on tops being half way down my arms. I wish I could afford to have clothes made just for me- not only would they fit but they'd be a decent quality too :T

Go to New Look. They do 28 inch legs and they're only a tenner! Top Shop also do 28 inch legs, but are more expensive (£30 last time I checked). I absolutely love New Look jeans now. They size it by size, length and style. So on one rack there's boot cut and they're organised by length (usually), so you just flick through that rack of 28 inch legs and look for your size!

I've got about 4 or 5 pairs of New Look jeans now. Some different sizes though as I put on weight :( Some are 12 some are 14.

I also have tiny feet, size 3 on average, but ballet shoes in size 3 are too small if they don't have a strap to hold my feet in! For smaller sizes I've been recommended this website http://www.petitfeet.co.uk/ My brother's girlfriend has size 1 feet!

  • Strangely enough I've never actually had a problem with clothes sizing. I'd actually thought clothes were getting bigger size wise in the shops......

Not sure where to post this, hope it's ok here! Just ordered a pair of jeans from Next. I ordered a size 18 as I know I've put on a little weight, have always been a size 16 (I'm 5 foot 10)! However, I measured them up again my old jeans, same style etc and the 18's are actually SMALLER than the 16's!!!! I've had a suspicion for ages that sizes have gone mad! Its no wonder people are depressed about weight, size etc and young girls are getting eating disorders if they think they've gone up a few sizes when in fact they haven't! Anyone else noticed this??? xx

Sound like they have been sized wrong. When you send them back they will be tested for the reason they are returned. It should be picked up that many could have the wrong size label on them so they will all have to be returned to manufacturer and re packed.
Wow, I got 3 *, when did that happen :j:T:p

And this is why I don't buy clothes over t'internet. This is also why it takes me a good couple of years to pluck up the courage to buy new jeans to replace a pair that are literally being held together by threads.

I wore a pair of Miss Sixty jeans into the ground and finally gave in and, thinking the sizes would be the same, went into a stockist and asked for the size I was wearing. Now bare in mind that the jeans I was wearing were far too big on me (wedding diet) and I could take them on and off without unzipping/unbuttoning so I was fairly confident in what I was doing. Well you could have knocked me down with a feather when I couldn't get them down my thigh even though they were a similar style and fit.

The last time I went shopping for jeans it took hours and me almost slitting my wrists before I found a pair. Had I had any sense I should have bought a couple of pairs to save me looking for a few years yet! I hate clothes shopping to the extent that my husband has the perfect wife as I have never dragged him around changing rooms asking "does my bum look big in this?".

Pay no attention to the sizing labels :p. Has anyone else tried things on that would never fit them properly in any of the sizes, because they were just a strange fit? I mean, I'm not a really weird shape, am I?

Don't even get me started on the time I had two pairs of shoes, in the same shop at the same time, in similar styles, but fitted a different size in each. I got so confused and bewildered I phoned my mum in the middle of the shop, don't know how I expected her to help!

ETA Yes, there is absolutely nothing wrong with, once you happen upon the Holy Grail of an item that fits perfectly, going about buying one in every colour or "a spare one".

Yes. Can't wear any Monsoon dresses because anything that fits around my hips is at least 2 sizes too small around my bust - and I'm wider on bottom than on top.

In general, I find it very hard to find clothing if you are an hourglass figure but not plus size (and about 5 feet tall, as well.)

Clothing manufacturers tend to assume that if you are a small size you must be flat-chested.

Currently my tops range between... 5 different sizes! And my jeans/skirts between 3. Got to love it.

My biggest problem in jeans/certain skirts though is my hips - now I'm not exactly slender which doesn't help :D But no matter what my hips are pretty wide so I seem to have to try loads of pairs of jeans to find ones that don't presume your waist and hips are the same size!

At least over the last couple of years getting shoes to fit my big feet has gotten easier, I'm a size 8/9 and finally shops seem to be realising it's not that uncommon!
  • I've been shopping for work clothes this weekend and it's been an absolute nightmare trying to find trousers.

Trousers in the same size from the same shop can be completely different sizes. Some I can barely do up and some are so baggy that they're just hanging on my hips.

This isn't items with the wrong label on them. It is just that the sizes vary so much.

Some shops I know I just can't shop in because their sizes are so small.

I just buy jeans to fit my hips and wear a belt.

Or leggings, which have elastic, so they can fit snugly around my waist.

I am never going to find a pair of jeans that fit my waist and hips.
