Job Grant- bit iffy?

I saw this as i was looking at various things of relevance. Basically you get a lump sum if moving from ESA IB etc. into employment of more then 16 hours a week.
What is the purpose of this benefit? If you suddenly go from ESA into work won't this stir up a hornet's nest because it means you are actively looking for work while on ESA which is a bit dodgy no?
Or is it an incentive for people on ESA doing 'permitted work' to switch to 16 hours or more?
It seems to me it would cause more trouble then not....
?
Also seen other things i've never heard of before, in-work credit and tax credits (disabled entitlement). Can they be claimed in tandem?

Being on ESA doesn't mean you can't do any work. It means you have limited capability for work. The E in ESA stands for Employment.
So there's nothing iffy about a person still trying to find suitable work while on ESA.0 -
In theory, in practice it's another ball game since they are trying every angle to cut access for disabled people on ESA.
Can i hear from people that have had permitted work.
was it used against you despite assurances?
Did you progress to more then 16 hours, and were you then hassled for in depth details on when you felt able to work. Time, date, hour, why, how, where etc. despite already giving them a date.
At what point in the claim did you start permitted work and was it used against you either covertly or otherwise during the application process? (pre-board, Atos medical, etc.)
People that haven't been on permitted work are more then welcome to contribute though i'd like to remind you about forum rules about personal opinions. (stickied in this section).
Thankyou!0 -

Yes, you should take note of the bit about personal opinion. You seem to think they're deliberately out to screw people....
The one off payment is there to help to buy things needed for the new job such as clothing etc. There is also the Return to Work Credit which is a £40 a week tax free payment for 52 weeks again to help in the transition to work.0 -

Thanks for the info. on your experiences with permitted work.
Feel free to go over to the discussion board if you want to talk about benefits policy. Start a thread entitled "why do ESA claimants feel they are going to be deliberately screwed."
You might find some interesting facts about how Government tribunals have found in favour of the claimants in 40-50% of cases despite said claimants not receiving the necessary points through atos medicals.
The demand for tribunals is also increasing drastically and from what i've read the system will collapse on itself unless there is an unprecedented cash injection by the DWP to keep it going.
Here's the sources on that:

Since we've been asked not to discuss it here maybe if i have the energy maybe i'll see you over in the discussion board.
Any further experiences of permitted work much appreciated.
