Hi.
I was wondering if there is any age limit to be able to claim tax credits?.
My father is retired and receives a pension of £700 which is made up of personal and state pension, mum works part time and earns the same amount.
Just out of interest would they be eligable to claim tax credits.?.

Answer to your question is no, far as i can tell no age limit.
Here are the relevant facts anyway:
What hours do you need to work to get Working Tax Credit?
You don't have children (obviously they do but your to old to count P:).
If you don’t have children, you need to work the following hours:- if you are aged 25 or over, you need to do paid work of at least 30 hours a week
- if you have a disability and are 16 or over, you need to do paid work of at least 16 hours a week
- if you or your partner are aged 50 or over and are going back to work after being on out of work benefits, such as Income Support or Jobseeker's Allowance, you need to do paid work of at least 16 hours a week
EDIT: she won't get the 50+ after all its reliant on moving from benefits to work.
Good Luck.
EDIT: Here's is a questionaire they can take to see if they qualify, hope it helps.

I'll be honest i haven't looked into their finances at all, it was just a thought that popped into my mind so i thought i would see if they are eligable. i do know he gets £700 a month of which £97 ish a week is his state pension, so using those figures he obviousily receives other benefits but i can't be sure what they are till i visit them in a fortnight.0
